Each classroom needs to be a special place of learning for every student. Teachers need to create an environment where students can feel safe and free to learn. A very important aspect of my classroom will be to foster a feeling of motivation and self-determination. Students need to feel like they are worth every minute of your time. The most effective learning will happen when students feel self-motivated, safe, and respected. This type of environment will be key to help promote good behavior and excellent work ethic. When students are determined to learn on their own they will stay on task and provide a better quality of work. Teachers and students need to have a relationship of trust and respect in order for expectations to be set and motivation to occur. Each student including any special need students will benefit from a positive relationship with their teacher. I will expect excellence from each and every student. This does not mean that every student is at the same level for learning but every student can provide and measure up to excellence within his or her personal ability to do so. Even the best of classrooms will have student misbehavior. I feel that student misbehavior is a result of student loosing their engagement and ultimately bored and unmotivated to learn. Student misbehavior needs to be addressed because it will affect the classroom atmosphere and the other learning of students around them. Students need to know that the teacher is in charge of his or her classroom and that there is an expectation for behavior in that classroom1.When students misbehave a teaching opportunity for life long skills is provided. We must teach our students beyond the subject being taught but skills that teach them how to succeed in life. In my classroom excellence will be required both academically and socially. Every classroom needs to provide a welcoming and organized setting to help students learn best. The seating arrangement is an important aspect of classroom management and there should be an equal balance of individual, partner, and group work. I believe students get bored when the classroom never changes. Changing seat arrangements provides the students with a fresh and new feeling helping them to be more prepared to learn. Changing seat arrangements will also help facilitate individual, partner, and group work. The teacher needs to be in the front so he can see the students and there faces as they work. The classroom will have a verity of posters and student work that will hang on the walls but not the point where it will distract learning. The classroom expectations and organizational methods will be clear and effective so each student can learn effectively and the classroom can be the tool that starts the learning process.
